Sick and Pregnant...

I avoided the terrible flu that went around but I couldn't avoid a simple cold!? Ugh. I've been sick since Wednesday with a sore throat and major congestion...just a head cold but not so fun when I can't take any kind of cold medicine! I finally broke down last night and took a Benadryl to help me sleep. I slept straight through the night from 10pm-8am! It was the first time I've slept through the night in probably 3 weeks...with getting bigger, having to pee a ton, leg cramps, and the stress of all of our family stuff going on right now, sleeping has not been so easy lately. I'm sure it will not get any better throughout the end of this pregnancy, but I'm trying to savor all the sleep I can. :)

Our sleepover weekend with Brie!

Last weekend, Gabe and I babysat our adorable 1 year old niece, Brie from Friday through Monday! She is such an easy and great baby so it made our weekend that much more fun! It was great practice for us both. Phil and Allie dropped her off on Friday afternoon and we started our weekend off with some major crawling and exploring around the house. Gabe was able to watch her on Saturday morning by himself while I was at a meeting and he did great! Even changed her diaper, changed her from pj's to a cute outfit, and walked to the park with Wally in tow! I met up with them for lunch and a picnic at the park in the afternoon. On Sunday, we went to Griffith Park Train Town with Andy, Megan and their niece and nephew and road the train which Brie loved! She was exhausted by the afternoon (as were we!) so we headed home for naps! On Monday, Gabe went to work and Brie and I spent the day together with my Mom, walking around Montrose and grabbing lunch. I realized driving home from work on Monday night that she wasn't at our house anymore and I actually got a little sad! I can only imagine how difficult it will be to leave my own baby to go to work. One day at a time though and things will get all worked out. Gabe and I had a fun, exciting, and exhausting weekend babysitting Brie and would do it again in a heartbeat. :)

Happy 30th Birthday to the Daddy-to-be!

Gabe turned 30 yesterday!!! Finally!! I no longer feel old. Ok, that's a lie...now we just feel old together! :) We had his birthday dinner together last night at First & Hope, a restaurant downtown. We have his family birthday dinner tonight and another birthday dinner with my family tomorrow night. Loving the no-cooking trend this week. I gave Gabe tickets to a sold out Chris Cornell show at the Ford theater on May 5th. Whether his date to the show will be me or Phillippe is TBD seeing that I'll be just three weeks away from our due date! Fingers crossed that Little Dude will let his Dad enjoy one last concert before his big debut. :)

6 month mark!

We hit 24 weeks yesterday! Here's how our Little Dude is hanging these days...
Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.
